Wabash Marketplace Announces New Public Art Installations

Wabash, Ind. – New public art will be installed soon, thanks to Wabash Marketplace. Wabash Marketplace is spearheading a county-wide project to beautify traffic control boxes. The large, metal boxes at prominent intersections in Wabash and North Manchester will be wrapped in famous works of art. In addition, two of the designs will feature artwork by local artists Susan Ring and Terry Pulley.

The project is a partnership between Visit Wabash County, City of Wabash, Town of North Manchester, Manchester Alive, INDOT, OCRA, and Wabash Marketplace. “Wabash Marketplace took the lead on this project and grant application because it continues the work of our Public Art Master Plan, adopted in 2012. We consider traffic control boxes part of the “gateway” to our communities. Gateways are prioritized in the master plan.”

Earlier this week, Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs awarded more than $52,000 to 11 communities and organizations for quality of place initiatives through the Quick Impact Placebased Grant. Wabash Marketplace received $4,418 for this project.

The project is scheduled to begin installation in early summer.
