WABASH,Indiana – A 24-year-old Wabash man is facing multiple charges after city police arrested him around 1 am on Sunday. Blake Jamerson, whose last known address is on the 300 block of Fisher Street, had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Grant County. According to Officer Phil Mickelson’s affidavit of probable cause, he saw who he believes to be Jamerson in the parking lot of McDonald’s Funeral Home off Fisher Street in the early morning hours Sunday night and therefore pulled over to check. When police arrived, Jamerson allegedly starting quickly walking away. When Officer Mickelson asked for ID, he alleges that Jamerson responded he didn’t have any but said his name was Matt A. Parsons. Unsatisfied, Mickelson informed the man to stop and that he was being detained. When Jamerson starting walking away again, Mickelson’s affidavit states that he grabbed the man by the back of his shirt. After Jamerson was placed in handcuffs, he starting yelling at officers and, according to the affidavit, “caused a commotion.”

A affidavit by Officer Chad Galligan says that he noticed Jamerson trying to conceal something in his right hand pocket. During a pat down, the affidavit states that Jamerson kept forcibly turning away and raised his legs so as to prevent officers from conducting their search. After officers put him on the ground, Galligan looked into Jamerson’s pocket and found a coffee filter in his front pocket.

Galligan states that, in his experience, a coffee filter can be used to carry methamphetamine. Within the filter, police found .4 grams of a white powdery substance that, according to an affidavit of probable cause, preliminarily tested positive for methamphetamine. The substance was sent to the Indiana State Lab for further testing. Galligan’s affidavit says when he arrived at the jail, Jamerson told officer who he really was and began apologizing for his actions.

Jamerson is now facing possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement, false informing and disorderly conduct charges. Jamerson was also wanted by police on criminal conversion charges from an early morning incident at Village Pantry in late March.
