Wabash Fire Department Respond to Carroll Street Fire

WABASH, Ind. –  The Wabash Fire Department responded to a residential fire located at 369 N. Carroll St at 1322 hrs. During dispatch the Fire Department was advised of one person still in the residence. Upon arrival units from the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department and the Wabash Police Department stated that the person had exited the rear of the residence with the officers but was unsure if anyone else was inside. Fire was evident at the front of the building second floor coming from 2 windows. Firefighters began a search in the rear of the building while the fire was being extinguished in the front of the building. The search found no other persons in the building and the fire was brought under control at 1340 hrs.

The fire was extinguished as of 1440 hrs.  Damage is estimated at $30,000 to the house and $5,000 to contents.  All crews were back in-service at 1452 hrs. The Wabash City Fire Department is investigating the cause and origin of the fire which appears to have started in upstairs bedroom area.  At the time of this press release the cause of the fire appears to be accidental in nature.  If any further questions please feel free to contact the Wabash City Fire Chief or the officer in charge.
