Two Juveniles Arrested at Marion High School

On November 8, 2019 approximately 9:02 pm, two male juveniles (age 16) of Gas City were arrested at Marion High School during the Mississinewa vs Marion football sectional game.

Brian Sharp, Safety Director of Marion Community Schools/Special Officer City of Marion, confronted one of the juveniles for disruptive behavior and requested the juvenile leave the school grounds or be arrested. The juvenile refused to leave the school grounds and began shouting vulgar obscenities towards Safety Director Sharp. As Safety Director Sharp began to place the juvenile under arrest, the juvenile failed to comply with multiple commands and physically resisted. The juvenile was then tased and placed into custody.

Det. Sgt. Mark Stefanatos (working MHS security) assisted in the arrest of the above juvenile. Det. Sgt. Stefanatos was suddenly shoved from behind. Upon turning around, he witnessed a white male with shaggy hair standing there. The male witnessed that Det. Sgt. Stefanatos was in fact a police Officer, at which time he took off running. Det. Sgt. Stefanatos gave chase of the male. The male ran towards the baseball field and climbed the third base side fence and ran across the baseball field only to find that he was stuck inside the fencing. Marion Fireman, Tommy Pearce who was assisting officers walked the male to Det. Sgt. Stefanatos at which time he was then arrested for battery on a police officer.

The two juveniles were arrested to answer to the charges of: Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Law Enforcement and Disorderly Conduct. The two were transported to the Grant County Detention Facility without further incident.
