LOGANSPORT, Ind. — Two people were killed and a third person was critically injured when a train hit an SUV in Cass County Friday afternoon.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, the SUV was struck by a fast-moving freight train while crossing US 24 and was pushed more than a mile before coming to a stop.
Deputies say a man and a woman on the passenger side of the vehicle were killed. Their identities have not been released.
The male driver was airlifted in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
