WABASH,Indiana – Twisted Scissors, LLC, is Wabash’s newest hair salon. The Wabash Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the business at 12 noon on Friday at the salon’s location at 3 East Canal on the corner of Canal and Wabash Streets in downtown Wabash.

In addition to hair, the new business features a complete line of beauty treatments, from pedicures to spray tanning to nails to waxing to skin care treatments. First-time business owner Barb Baum called the new salon a one-stop destination with an experience that can be a lot like a spa. The business employs six hair stylists, four nail technicians and an esthetician.

She added that the name comes from that fact that, in her opinion, hair dressers and beauty professional are a little twisted. She describes the reworked interior design of the salon as industrial, and to that effect the logo of the business is contained on industrial-looking metal cut outs on top of each mirror. Because some of the beauty professional that work there have men clients, the thought was not to make the interior too dainty or feminine. Baum said that the men who have already come in since doors opened on Monday have been impressed with the look of the place.

Cindy Christman was in the salon on Friday getting her hair done and seemed very impressed with the interior of the business.

Co-owner Mark Baum said that a tremendous amount of work was made to the wiring to bring it up to code to be used with hair driers and industrial equipment. The work began right after November’s municipal election where the building was used as the Republican party headquarters. The Baum’s are planning on opening up the adjacent storefront next to the salon in about six months.
