Traffic Stop Leads to Meth Arrest

NORTH MANCHESTER,IN   Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, North Manchester Police Officer Brian Hammons pulled over a blue PT Cruiser driven by Rebecca Batalis.
The vehicle was traveling north on SR 13 when Hammons noticed that Batalis allegedly disregarded the red stop light on SR 13 at SR 114, and turned on SR 114 without using a turn signal.
Hammons requested K9 assistance, and Sgt. Nate Birch and K9 Strider arrived shortly thereafter.
Strider alerted that there were narcotics in the vehicle. Birch and Officer Isaac Adams searched the vehicle, finding several syringes and two small baggies containing a white powdery substance. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Batalis was arrested for unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of methamphetamine, cited for driving without an operator’s license. She also was given warnings for failure to use a turn signal and disregarding an automatic signal.
