Three Arrested For Drug/Counterfeit Currency

WABASH, Ind. – On December 16, 2017, at approximately 5:35 p.m. Officer Drew Bender initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle near Vernon Street and Hale Drive.  Officer Bender alleges the vehicle did not have its headlamps on.  Officer Bender reportedly smelled an odor of suspected burnt marijuana.  A Wabash County Sheriff’s K9 conducted a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle and gave a positive alert to narcotics in the vehicle.  The three occupants of the vehicle were briefly detained and a search of the vehicle was conducted.  Zachariah J. Hunter, 34, Angola, Tyrion L. McNair, 24, Ft. Wayne, and Charles D. St. Clair, 24, Ft. Wayne are all being held at the Wabash County Jail on a 72 hour hold. Wabash Police allege that a quantity of suspected Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Marijuana, Hypodermic needles, and Paraphernalia were located.  Wabash Police also allege during the search of the vehicle they located approximately $5300.00 of counterfeit currency.  Formal charges will be filed by the Wabash County Prosecutor.
