Third Candidate Announced Intentions to fill Indiana State Senate Seat

This from the Pharos-Tribune:

CASS COUNTY, IN- A third candidate has announced intentions to fill the Indiana State Senate seat recently vacated by Randy Head.

Cass County Councilwoman Stacey Donato posted on Facebook Thursday that she applied for the District 18 position that Head resigned from on Aug. 12.Senator Head told the Pharos-Tribune that Donato is the candidate he’s asking precinct chairs to choose for the opening.

Donato is currently in her second term as an at-large Cass County Councilwoman.

Besides being politically and professionally active, Donato is active in the community. This includes working with the Lewis Cass Band Boosters, Cass County 4-H Dog Club, William Paca Lodge #2366, the Logansport Rotary Club and Cass County Republican Women. She is also a Eucharist minister and member of the church choir in her Catholic church.

She and her husband, Jim, have two grown children and two grandchildren, and they’ve also been foster parents.

Head announced his retirement from the state senate in late July and became Chief Deputy Prosecutor for Pulaski County.

The caucus for his replacement is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., on Sept. 9 at the Miami County 4-H Community Building, which is located at 1029 W. 200 N. in Peru.

Because Head was a Republican, his replacement will be chosen through a vote by the Republican precinct chairs of District 18.

The person chosen by the caucus will finish the remainder of Head’s term through 2020, serving Cass, Fulton and Miami counties and portions of Carroll, Kosciusko and Marshall counties.

Two others have announced their intent to pursue the open seat: Jake Adams of Flora and Jeffery Staker of Miami County.
