State Rep. Manning Discusses Miami County Grant Award

STATEHOUSE (May 4, 2020) – Miami County recently received $250,000 in coronavirus relief to support rural Hoosiers, according to State Rep. Ethan Manning (R-Denver).

“This much-needed funding will provide our small businesses with some relief during this public health crisis,” Manning said. “Rural communities face financial challenges as they have smaller and less dense populations. We must do everything we can to help these areas weather this storm and come out stronger on the other side.”

Manning said Miami County was awarded $250,000 to assist small businesses in retaining employees and paying for operational expenses.

In March, Gov. Eric Holcomb issued Executive Order 20-05, which allowed the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to redirect Community Development Block Grant funds to assist with COVID-19 needs. As a result, the COVID-19 Response Program was created to address the immediate impacts of the public health emergency on Indiana’s rural communities.
