‘Sea Glass’ by Mabel Halley

Here is another Summer Writing Story brought to you by Terrell Realty Group.

Have you been to Lake Michagan? On the shore there are pieces of glass. The fogged up glass you see when the waves reach the shore. That’s sea glass!

Sea glass is found only on rocky beaches. Sea glass colors are brownish yellow, white, green, and blue. In Hawaii there is pink sea glass!

Sea glass is foggy. The foggy look comes from being lapped by waves over and over. Some sea glass came from pirate ships.I discovered sea glass a few years ago when we had a family reunion in New Buffalo. Ever since my grandma and I go back to New Buffalo every year.

My favorite sea glass colors are blue and green. Blue is harder to find then most of the other colors. Brownish yellow and white sea glass are the most common. Green is in between.

Sea glass can be made into jewelry.  I have a necklace. The sea glass on my necklace is white.

When you are looking for sea glass, don’t get mad if you don’t find any right away.Don’t look for a certain color. Look in the most rocky areas of the beach. Wade out into the water and search for them.

I recommend New Buffalo, Michigan as a great place to search for sea glass. This is a great place to go with family and friends. Visit New Buffalo soon!

Mabel Halley will be a seventh grader at Wabash.
