WABASH,Indiana – The 17-year-old Wabash High School Senior trying out to be on the Indianapolis Colts Cheerleading squad has made it through the preliminary round. Alexis Paige Rose is one of 49 finalists who auditioned for the Colts this last Saturday in Indianapolis. She is vying to be the newest, and possibly youngest, of the 26 cheerleaders to make the team this year. Rose talked to MiBash News on Wednesday while on her way down to Indy for her interview with the Cheerleading Team’s staff. She said that last week wasn’t so bad due to spring break but this week is going to be the busiest, craziest week of her life. In addition daily practice and Wednesday’s interview, she’s preparing for the final showcase this Sunday at the Hilbert Circle Theatre in Indy. And this is all while she’s is finishing up her time at Wabash High School.

Rose, whose 18th birthday is April 25th, said that when she found out that she made it through the first round she could “breathe again.” While she took the beginning of the week off, she is in school today and Friday before heading to Indy for the weekend. When MiBash News first spoke to Rose in March, she downplayed her expectations of actually making the team this year. And that was because of her age. But after making it past the preliminary round, she struck a more hopeful note on Wednesday.

And for moral support, Rose said that, in addition to her family, several of her friends will make the trip down to the Circle City to watch Sunday night’s showcase.

The 2016 Indianapolis Colts Cheerleader Showcase is Sunday afternoon at 4 pm at the Circle Theatre in Indianapolis. Tickets for the event are available on the Indianapolis Colts’ website.
