Ronald H. “Ron” Kitts

Ronald H. “Ron” Kitts, 78, Marion, went home to be with the Lord at 10:51 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018, in his home. He was born in Kokomo on May 5, 1939, to the late Howard and Madelynn (Wilkinson) Kitts. Ron was a 1957 graduate of Van Buren High School and attended Northern Indiana University. He married Vicky L. Wolf on May 23, 1959. She survives.

Ron retired from Anaconda Wire & Cable in 1999 after 38 years and assisted in farming the family farm. He was a member of Grace Community Church. Ron was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed golfing with his many friends and loved golfing with his son in The Villages, Florida. He was a member of the Corvette Club for several years. Ron was a basketball referee for 30 years. He was a big sports fan, especially Purdue and Indiana Universities and loved watching the games on TV. He was a loving provider, handyman and perfectionist. He will be missed by many.

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his son, Randy H. (Carol) Kitts, Marion and daughter, Rhonda L. Templar, Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Laurie J. (Lane) Detweiler, Leann R. (Royce) Richey, and Courtney L. Glass; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Aidan, Bentley, Tenley and Erik; siblings, George (Linda) Kitts, Kendall (Cheryl) Kitts, David Kitts, Marilynn (Joe) Barr, Pam (Larry) Taylor; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his dog, Diesel.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Lindsay R. Kitts.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN.

A funeral service celebrating Ron’s life will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow in the Van Buren Cemetery.
