Rev. Mary Ann Freeman

Rev. Mary Ann Freeman, 86, Marion, received her eternal reward at 8:55 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Marion Rehabilitation and Assisted Living. She was born in Bloomington, Illinois, on December 4, 1931, and was the daughter of the late James and Ruby (Simpson) Freeman.

Rev. Mary Ann was a graduate of Bloomington High School and continued her education at Olivet Nazarene College (now Olivet Nazarene University) in Bourbonnais, Illinois, where she received her ministerial degree. Prior to her pastorate at Marion Memorial Tabernacle, Rev. Mary Ann was an evangelist for 25 years, as well as an Elder, with the Church of the Nazarene. She also organized kids’ crusades and Christian Bible Schools for many years. Rev. Mary Ann was actively involved in the Marion community, serving in the Marion Ministerial Association, Women’s Christian Temperance Union, the Chaplaincy program at Marion General Hospital, and the ladies’ auxiliary of the Grant County Rescue Mission, of which she was President.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, who live in Lincoln, Illinois, as well as her best friend, Lois Helm, Marion.

In addition to her parents, Rev. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Noble, Phyllis Turley, Mildred Ewins, and James Freeman.

The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Marion Memorial Tabernacle Church, 1533 E. 37th St., Marion, IN. Additional visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Dr. David Roland and Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
