PPD and PFD first to participate in advanced wellness screening

This from the Peru Police Department: PERU, IN- This week, the Peru Police Department, and the Peru Fire Department, in partnership with the Dukes Healthcare Foundation, hosted Sigma Tactical Wellness to provide advanced cardiac and metabolic testing for our police officers and firefighters. The Peru Police Department and the Peru Fire Department are the first agencies in the State of Indiana to participate in this advanced screening that identifies and provides strategies for managing cardiovascular disease andmetabolic syndrome.

Because heart disease is the leading cause of death for both active duty and retired police officers and firefighters, we are investing in the health of our employees to provide a pathway to living longer healthier lives. With healthy police officers and firefighters, the community can take comfort knowing that your first responders are physically and mentally prepared to serve you.

Thank you to Dr. Ben Stone and his staff at Sigma Tactical Wellness for coming to Peru to conduct the testing and thank you to the Dukes Healthcare Foundation for providing grantfunding for this program. Because of the Dukes Healthcare Foundation, there was no cost to the City of Peru or to any police officer or firefighter who participated in the testing.
