Peru Woman Arrested After Asking Officers to Test the Contents of Her Needle to See if it Contained Meth

PERU – On Tuesday, May 16, at approximately 10:41am, Miami County Central Dispatch advised of a suspicious female at a residence in the 200 block of West Eighth Street.

Upon arriving at this location, Lieutenant Jay Richardson and Officer Zach Adkins identified the female as Sammi Y. Breeden, age 20, of Peru.  In speaking with Ms. Breeden she advised Officers that she had been at another location in Peru earlier in the day where she had been using methamphetamine.  She told Officers that she had “Shot up” with a needle.  She stated she did not believe the substance was meth, as it was making her feel different from her usual methamphetamine high.  At this point an ambulance was called to render medical assistance.  While still at this location, a needle was found on Ms. Breeden.

Prior to being transported to the hospital, Ms. Breeden requested Officer to test the contents of her needle.  After she was treated and released, Ms. Breeden was informed the contents of the needle contained methamphetamine.  She became upset with Officers as she stated she just wanted to know what was in her needle.

Ms. Breeden was placed under arrest for Possession of a Syringe and Possession of Methamphetamine, with her bond being $10,000.
