Peru Utilities Flushing Fire Hydrants Until June 30

peruutilities
PERU, Ind. – Peru Utilities will be flushing fire hydrants in and around the City of Peru between now and June 30. Work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Hydrant flushing will take place around the Grissom Aeroplex area and in Eagle’s Pointe housing area between June 12 and June 16 and in the Industrial Park area and Air Force Reserve areas between June 26 and June 30. It is necessary to periodically flush fire hydrants to ensure they are in good working condition in case of an emergency. While they’re  flushing and immediately after, the appearance of tap water can be affected. Please take note of the following:
◦Tap water may temporarily appear red, brown or dark in color. If this happens, run cold-water faucets in bathtubs at full stream until the water runs clear again.
◦It is a good idea to check for sediment in the lines leading to the clothes washer or ice maker before use. These sediments are not a health risk.
◦Water pressure inside homes may fluctuate during flushing. This is only temporary; normal water pressure will resume once the flushing period is complete.
◦If faucets seem clogged or running slowly, remove and rinse screens.
