Peru Police Department responded to an accident Friday afternoon, September 9th, at the Corner of Fremont and West Main Streets. Racheal Pegg, of Peru, driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, was eastbound on Main Street, driving to far to the right in her lane, when she side swiped a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by Deborah Helton of Peru. After colliding, Ms. Pegg stopped two streets down and checked out the damage. Ms. Pegg then switched with her passenger and continued to 611 East 5th Street. Later, Officer Mooney located Ms. Pegg and was transported to the Miami County Jail for leaving the scene of an accident. 2004 Chevrolet Trail Blazer driven by Racheal Pegg sustained paint transfer from the 2016 Ford Fusion driven by Deborah Helton, the Ford Fusion sustained scrapes down the passenger side. Also minor damage on the Driver’s side, major paint transfer, and a broken driver’s side mirror.
