Peru Police Department Make a Major Drug Bust

PERU, Ind. – On June 1st, at approximately 4:02pm, Officers of the Peru Police Department went to a multi-unit apartment complex at 293 West Third Street, to attempt to locate a runaway juvenile.  

Once at this location, Sergeant Samantha Raber and Officer Shawn Swinford were attempting to locate the juvenile, when they smelled an odor of marijuana coming from Apartment A at this location.  A short time later Allison Johnston, 24 of Peru, and a male companion exited the residence.  They also had a four-year-old child with them.  A short time later two other males exited the residence.  

After obtaining a search warrant for the residence, Officers were able to locate approximately 419 grams of marijuana and 78 Xanax bars.  Officers also located two weight scales and several baggies.  

Allison Johnston was arrested and booked into the Miami County Jail on charges of:

Possession of Marijuana (Level 6 Felony)

Possession of a Controlled Substance (Level 6 Felony)

Dealing in Marijuana (Level 6 Felony)

Neglect of a Dependent (Level 6 Felony)

Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 Felony)

Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor)

Ms. Johnston’s bond was set at $28,000.
