PERU, Ind. – In June of 2016, the Peru Police Department was able to acquire two K-9 units for the department. One of the K-9’s was donated by Dr. Caesar DePaco and his wife, Deanna, of Summit Nutritionals International, based out of New Jersey. The other K-9 was acquired through generous donations from several businesses, the citizens of Peru, and Miami County grants and fundraising. After graduating from Vohne Liche Kennels, the K-9’s, along with their handlers Sergeant Samantha Raber and Officer Jeremy Brindle began working together.
From July 5th to December 31, 2016 the Peru Police Department K-9’s assisted in the following statistics:
SEVENTY ARRESTS WERE MADE
OUT OF THOSE 70 ARRESTS, OFFICERS WERE ABLE TO CONFISCATE: 82 GRAMS OF MARIJUANA, 688 GRAMS OF HEROINE, and 464 GRAMS OF METHAMPHETAMINE
13 APPREHENSIONS CRIMINAL SUSPECTS WERE ARREST
211 DEPLOYMENTS THROUGH: Traffic Stops, Warrant Service, and Tracking of Fleeing Felons
