KOSCIUSKO COUNTY,Indiana – There is another phone scam making the rounds, this time in Kosciusko County. Police have been informing residents that scammers pretending to be local law enforcement are calling people asking for them to pay court fines. The scammers tell residents that if do not pay their fines they will be arrested and go to jail. Scammers apparently tell potential victims that the only way to get out of the fine is to send them a pre-paid credit card. Police say they also use verbal tactics in an attempt to confuse victims in paying up. Local police remind residents that no one in law enforcement or the court system will ever call asking for money. If you get a call like this, please hang up and immediately call police.
