In the past most significant challenges were the outbreak of COVID-19, its development into a global pandemic, and its widespread impact on the lives of struggling families.
During Wallick’s time with United Way, she has achieved many successes, including but not limited to; the recruitment and engagement of our strong Board of Directors, the creation and implementation of several strategic plans, garnering more than $6M in financial support for United Way’s campaign, serving as our Indiana United Way state chairman, and bringing the attention of ALICE to our community.
“I’ve served and chaired on too many boards and committees throughout my career with the United Way, to name them all. All were to benefit the citizens of Miami County. To help better improve the quality of life in Miami County. “I am proud to have worked with all the volunteer community members who have served,” Wallick said.
“During my tenure, I’ve started several projects and initiatives with dedication, determination, and passion for the United Ways’ mission; to improve the quality of life for everyone living in Miami County. I’m most proud of five initiatives over the last twenty-some years. Hiring Colleen Kennedy as an Ameri Corps volunteer, her United Against Opioid Abuse Initiative, brought new awareness to our community. Not only did she open our eyes to our community, but we also raised enough money to open the first women’s; transitional shelter in Miami County. Partnering with Prevent Pricks to bring awareness to our community around communicable diseases. Starting up Dollywood Imagination Library with collaborating partners in Miami County, where children from birth to five receive educational books. Starting our first nutritious back program feeding Headstart, preschool, and kindergarten students. Lastly, partnering with Food Finders Food Bank to provide mobile food drives to those who need a hand-up,” Wallick said.
Wallick hopes to be remembered as best served in her community, operating consistently with honesty, diversity, and public service values. Everyone respected her. She served as a leader in her community and showed professionalism. She inspired trust in her organization by adhering to the highest professional standards of accountability and stewardship. And she was committed to sustained improvements in providing quality of life.
“Everyone I have worked with has touched my heart! I guarantee a seamless transition and am delighted that I have the chance to pass on my expertise to my successor. I leave knowing that my old job will be in safe hands, and I look forward to seeing the direction the new director brings to our organization,” Wallick said.
