Miami County Deputies presented with Life Saving Award

PERU, IN- Quick action by Miami County Sheriff’s Deputy Creighton Howell and Reserve Deputy Jeremy Aughinbaugh helped save the life of a Peru man. 

On February 18th, Miami County Central Dispatch received a 911 call of a male choking. Within minutes, Deputies arrived at the residence and observed the male to be in distress. Deputy Howell and Reserve Deputy Aughinbaugh successfully performed first aid until medics arrived. As a result, the object blocking the male’s airway was dislodged and he was able to begin breathing normally again.

On July 31st, Miami County Sheriff Tim Hunter presented Deputy Howell and Reserve Deputy Aughinbaugh with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office Life Saving Award. Family of the male were in attendance and assisted in presenting these gentlemen with the award.

The actions of these Deputies reflect the highest tradition of the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, and they are proud to serve alongside them in our community.
