PERU, IN – The Miami County Democratic Party has appointed a candidate in the upcoming municipal election to replace long-time Peru City Councilwoman Phyllis Torrence, who passed away last week from a heart condition. Jason Bowman was appointed Monday to replace Torrence, who had served as a Democrat on the council for 23 years. Bowman had already filed to run for the District 3 position in the May primary election, in which he is unopposed.
