Miami County Courthouse Evacuated Thursday Afternoon

PERU,Indiana – The Miami County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies dealt with a bomb threat that was called in from an unknown person at approximately 2 pm Thursday stating that there was a bomb in the Miami County Courthouse. All workers in the courthouse were quickly evacuated and a K-9 Explosives Detection Unit from the Howard County Sheriff’s Department searched the building. On the scene were members from the Peru Police Department, Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Natural Renounces Conversation Office, Howard County Sheriff’s Department and Vohne Liche Kennels.

After a search, the all clear given at 3:40 pm on Thursday.

An investigation by the Miami County Sheriff’s Department is underway and anyone with information on the case is asked to called (765) 472-1322.
