MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. – Offenders residing in the P.L.U.S. (Purposeful Living Units Serve) housing unit at Miami Correctional Facility have been hard at work with the construction of their very own parade float which was featured in a recent Logansport parade. Offenders residing in this particular unit participate in community impact. These are activities that do not directly benefit the individual and have a positive impact on the housing unit, facility, and outside community. A total of six P.L.U.S. program participants took on the task and this year’s float theme revolved around Legos and “Building a Child’s Education.” The P.L.U.S. program is designated by the Indiana Department of Correction with the intent to provide an environment for offenders to change past attitudes and behaviors in a manner that will assist them in their return to the outside community.
