Meth and Marijuana Found in Car During Traffic Stop

NORTH MANCHESTER,IN   On Thursday, July 14, 2016, around 8:55 p.m., North Manchester Police Officer Drew Bender observed a vehicle southbound on Market Street that did not stop at the stop sign on Ninth Street.   Officer Bender initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.  As he approached the vehicle he could smell a strong odor that he associates with marijuana coming from the vehicle.  Upon Bender and Sergeant Jon Pace located over 20 baggies containing a green leafy substance.  A test on one of the baggies indicated a positive result for marijuana.  It was initially estimate that the total weight of all the baggies was just less than one pound.

There were two small baggies containing a crystal material.  A field test indicated a positive result for methamphetamine.  A large amount of cash was also discovered in the vehicle.   Chadwick M. Childers, Columbia City, was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamine and cited for the traffic violation.  Other charges are pending.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation.  Every defendant is innocent until proven guilty.
