Mary Nell Hurt, 105, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:05 pm, Monday, April 22, 2024, at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Wabash. She was born on April 2, 1919, along with her twin sister Ora Dell, in Cyclone, Kentucky, to Ernest and Vadie Easter (Gibbons) Estes, and together they shared many birthdays until her death in 2018 at the age of 99.
Mary was a homemaker. She married Raymond Denver Hurt in Waterview County, Kentucky on February 4, 1940; he died March 11, 1989. Mary was a member of Northside Wesleyan Church in Wabash. She enjoyed quilting, reading her Bible, doing word searches, watching game shows on tv, and walking. Mary lived in Wabash since 1944 coming from Kentucky.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Godden of Wabash, 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, and brother, Jimmy Estes of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Earnest Hurt and Bobby Hurt, two daughters, Sara Brown and Vadie Wycuff, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, and 13 brothers and sisters.
Graveside services and burial will be 1:00 pm, Central Time, Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Summer Shade Cemetery, in Summer Shade, Kentucky. Friends may call 2:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, April 30, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash.
