Marion Police Respond to Self-Inflicted Gunshot Injury

On October 27, 2019 at approximately 4:22 am, Marion Police responded to Marion General Hospital for a possible self-inflicted gunshot injury.

Jaylen Weaver, age 20 reported that he drove his girlfriend’s vehicle to her home on Upton Ct. Prior to exiting the car, Weaver stated that he withdrew his Smith & Wesson .38 special revolver out of his pocket. Weaver states he turned to his left, placed his left hand on the end of the muzzle and attempted to de-cock the hammer. Weaver stated that the gun discharged and the bullet entered and exited his left hand. Weaver stated he was unsure as to where the bullet went.

Weaver stated that his cousin Trevor Johnson was in the passenger seat when the incident occurred. Weaver then stated that he had Johnson drive him to the hospital. Weaver was uncooperative upon officers following up with the investigation. Weaver sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his left hand.
