On February 23, 2020 at approximately 6:29 pm, Marion Police responded to the Flying J, located at 6255 E. SR 18 for a bomb threat.
Upon officer’s arrival multiple people were exiting the building. Officers made contact with Dustin Manis an employee of Wendy’s Restaurant. Dustin reported while working, Wendy’s phone rang and he answered it. Dustin reported that a young sounding male stated “I placed a bomb in the bathroom, you have twenty minutes’ good luck”.
Dustin reported that the caller was blocked and that there was no way of obtaining a call back phone number.
Officers and fire personnel cleared the building of all patrons and employees, and conducted a full building search in which no suspicious package(s) were located. The patrons and employees were then cleared to reenter the establishment.
