Marion Police arrest male on multiple felony charges

MARION, IN- On December 30th, 2022, Marion Police Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block W. 2nd Street. Officers were advised of a 3rd party call reporting that the son of the suspect, the suspect’s girlfriend and her daughter were being held hostage.
Officers arrived and attempted to make contact with people inside the residence. While they were conducting their investigation, an adult female, and two children walked up to the officers and inquired if the male, inside the home, was okay. The female appeared distraught and none of the individuals had shoes on.
During the interview with the adult female and two children, officers learned that the male had strangled the adult female to the point that she went unconscious. After coming around, the adult female took the kids and left the house. Officers were advised that the male had a shotgun and handgun inside the residence and the juvenile male advised that his father made threats to shoot the police if they arrived.
A search warrant for the residence was obtained and the Marion Police Department Emergency Response Team arrived. Officers knocked and announced their presence and attempted to call the suspect out of the house. After receiving no response, the ERT entered the residence and located the suspect in a bedroom, where he was placed into custody after a brief struggle. The suspect was transported to Marion General Hospital for medical clearance and then transported to the Grant County Jail.
Arrested was Gregory Pargeon, 40 years of age. Mr. Pargeon was charged with:
Strangulation, Level 6 Felony
Domestic Battery in the Presence of a Minor, Level 6 Felony
Intimidation, Level 6 Felony
