MARION,Indiana – Less than two weeks after a jury found 33-year-old Marion resident Jeremy Riddle guilty of the November 2015 murder of 56-year-old Wendell Donaldson, a Grant County Court handed down Riddle’s sentence on Tuesday. Riddle was given 107 years behind bars, 30 years on charges related to the murder and 77 years for murder, theft and unlawful possession of a firearm. The sentences will run consecutively for the total of 107 years.

And that time frame is exactly what Grant County Prosecutors had asked for and Judge Jeffrey Todd agreed to the maximum sentence in Superior Court I. At sentencing, the defense asked for another chance for Riddle to become rehabilitated. Judge Todd said that Riddle could have changed from his criminal lifestyle numerous times in his 23 year history of criminal activity. The judge added that his past criminal history makes it unlikely that he will ever rehabilitate.

Deputy Prosecutor Bill Heck told the judge that Riddle and his victim knew each other and that, in his view, it is troubling to see an individual who doesn’t hesitate to threaten and intimidate others. Riddle’s defense attorneys told the court that they will appeal the 107 year sentence.
