Manchester Junior High Students Earn Eight Awards at Scholastic Art & Writing Competition

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. — Each year, a truly inspirational body of artwork hangs at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. It is comprised of winning works from the Scholastic Art and Writing competition, a national competition for creative students in grades 7-12. The Fort Wayne Scholastic Art and Writing Region spans most of Indiana and Northern Ohio. This year there were 3,068 entries, and of those, Manchester Junior High students took eight awards. Awards included three Gold Keys (the highest honor), three Silver keys, and two honorable mentions. Past recipients of gold keys include names such as Richard Avedon, Truman Capote, Stephen King, Sylvia Plath, Robert Redford and Andy Warhol. Manchester Community schools is truly proud of the great achievements of these students.

The Scholastic Art and Writing show will open with a ceremony at the Grand Wayne Center on February 12th, followed by a reception at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. The show will run through April 9th.
