Christopher Sommers accused of theft, fraud using company credit cards

AMBOY – Miami County Sheriff’s Department, Sergeant Ron Daush arrested Christopher J. Sommers age 33 of Galveston on a warrant issued out of Superior Court 2 on Sunday, August 14th.

Sommers is charged with two counts of corrupt business influence both level five felonies, eight counts of theft all class D felonies and eight counts of fraud all D felonies. The arrest was a result of an investigation into acts allegedly committed by Sommers during his tenure as Manager with Crop Production Services in North Grove.

An internal investigation initiated by Crop Production Services alleged Mr. Sommers used various company credit cards and charge accounts for his personal gain beginning in December of 2011 and ending in August of 2014. All of the acts involved only company accounts which were intended to the day to day operations of the plant. There was no evidence any customers or patrons of Crop Production were affected in any way.

Mr. Sommers is also accused of including other family members or former employees in his efforts to obtain money, goods, or services using company funds.

Christopher Sommers was transported to the Miami County Jail where he was being held on a $98,000.00 bond. He later was released after posting bond.
