Maconaquah Bus Accident Update

BUNKER HILL, IN- Maconaquah students are safe following a bus accident Tuesday morning on Ind. 18 near U.S. 31. The bus, driven by Carl Philpot, was rear-ended at approximately 8 a.m., and three students were seen by local paramedics for minor injuries before being released. All students were then transferred to a spare bus and delivered to Pipe Creek Elementary School. Parents with students on the bus were contacted as soon as possible. Maconaquah administrators were on the scene with first responders from the Miami County Sheriff’s Department, Galveston Fire Department, Dukes Memorial Hospital, and Indiana State Police, among others. Angel Strik, Maconaquah Transportation Director, said she was thankful that there were no severe injuries. “We’re grateful that everyone is OK” said Strik. “Mr. Philpot and the students did a great job of remaining calm and following protocol until the first responders arrived.”
