WABASH,Indiana – The Oasis Baptist Church in Wabash is holding a community presentation this Sunday at the Honeywell Center at 3 pm on the dangers of human trafficking. The presentation will featuring guest speaker Lavina Thompson from Hope Haven, an organization which helps child victims of human trafficking from all over the country. Thompson lived in the Wabash area for 28 years and served on the Life Center staff for 10 years. While many people think that human trafficking happens in other countries, Curt Alexander, Pastor at the Oasis Baptist Church, says that the problem is growing right here in the U.S.

Alexander said that 1 in 3 run-away children are enticed into commercial exploitation within the first 24 hours of being on the street and that Kokomo is one of the hubs in the industry which preys on vulnerable children. Alexander urges all children at least middle school age and their parents to come to the Honeywell Center’s skating rink on Sunday, May 1st at 3 pm to hear a presentation on the dangers of human trafficking.
