GRANT COUNTY,Indiana – Members of Marla Turner’s family were surprised on Friday to find that the plea hearing of Tyler Wayne Lisby had been rescheduled for a later date. A few of Turner’s family members drove into Marion Friday for the plea hearing but were notified that they will have to wait until May 6th at 8:30 am in the Grant County Circuit Court.
According to Marion Police, Wabash resident Tyler Wayne Lisby struck Turner with his car in the Marsh parking lot in Marion on April 13, 2015. Lisby fled the scene but was quickly apprehended at the Mississinewa Reservoir as Turner was rushed to the hospital. Turner later died from her injuries in July 2015 at Ball Memorial Hospice in Muncie.
A toxicology report showed that Lisby has morphine in his system on the day of the accident and was subsequently charged with causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle with a schedule I or II substance in body, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and leaving the scene of an accident.

A jury trial date has been scheduled for May 13th if Lisby declines the plea at the rescheduled May 6th hearing.
