Hope Starts With Me

Hope Starts With Me. That is the campaign theme for Hands of Hope this October as we focus on breaking the cycle of domestic violence. It is so incredibly important in this time of uncertainty and often time’s chaos, that we provide a sense of hope. When we provide hope for someone living in a world of violence, we can begin to show them there is another way. There is the ability to not be physically, sexually, emotionally, verbally, financially or digitally abused by the one person who says they love them. You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes just being that confidante for someone can be enough. Being that one person who says I hear you and I believe you. The person who is honest, yet not judgmental. Here are some additional tips for you on how to be the Hope:Be kind and gentle with your words, yet exact and real with your concernsDon’t say “I think your partner is jealous” when you mean “your partner is controlling and possessive”Don’t belittle your friend’s abuser or their relationshipLift your friend up and help them focus on the positives in their lifeBe the person who says, when you are ready, I know who you can call for resources, options and answers to your questions. And, when that time comes, you can give them Hands of Hope’s 24 hour helpline number, because you know Hope Starts with you and with me. The Hands of Hope helpline numbers are:
