WABASH,Indiana – A 31-year-old homeless Wabash woman is facing unlawful possession of a syringe as a level 6 felony and possession of paraphernalia charges after a run in with police on June 24th. An affidavit of probable cause by Wabash Police Officer George R. Short states that he noticed Andrea Haggerty on the 20 block of East Sinclair Street in Wabash. After dispatch confirmed an outstanding warrant, Officer Short advised Haggerty of the warrant and informed her that she would be taken to the Wabash County Jail.

While at the jail, a search of Haggerty’s purse revealed two empty syringes, a plunger from another syringe, a spoon and a container with two cotton balls, according to an affidavit of probable cause by Wabash County Jail Officer Eric Kirtlan. Officer Short’s affidavit states that Haggerty said she received the purse from the Light House Mission in Wabash and did not know that the drug-related items were there.

Short also alleges that Haggerty had track marks in her arms, to which she claimed came from Parkview Mental Health Center.
