On 8-21-2020 at approximately 1629 hours The Grant County Sheriff Department responded to State
Road 5 and County Road 200 S for a fatal traffic accident. Upon arrival Deputies found Kevin Hairell
deceased and the passenger a juvenile on his motorcycle was responsive. The passenger was flown to
Parkview Regional Hospital for further medical treatment. The passenger was wearing a helmet. The
driver of the other vehicle, Arlene Hunt was taken to Marion General Hospital for further treatment.
This is on an ongoing investigation.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by members of the Indiana State Police Peru Post,
Grant County Emergency Management, Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department and Marion
General Hospital.
