Grant County homicide arrests made, investigation continues

GRANT COUNTY, IN- At approximately 10:24 PM on June 19, 2023, a call was received regarding an unconscious person in the 2700 block of West Avon Avenue in Grant County. Upon arrival, deputies found a male person deceased on the property.

Detectives and Patrol Deputies found evidence at the scene consistent with Homicide being the manner of death of the male. An autopsy was conducted to determine the cause of death on Wednesday. The victim’s name is being withheld out of consideration for his family pending notification.

The investigation is active, and Sheriff Garcia is asking the public for help in locating other persons who may be witnesses in this crime. In the recent homicide that occurred on June 19, 2023, in the 2700 Block of Avon Ave. Marion, IN. The scheduled autopsy has been completed, and the victim died from multiple stab wounds and blunt force that occurred during a physical assault on the victim.

Investigators from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office have interviewed multiple people in two counties, that have led to two adult arrests in this case.

Arrested:

Michael Davis, age 44 of Marion, preliminarily charged with Murder

James E. Watson, age 44 of Marion, preliminary charged with Murder

The investigation continues and is very active, with investigators and deputies working around the clock to bring a complete resolution to this case and the family of the victim.

Investigators are looking for a potential witness in this case and encourage that person to come forward, allowing closure to the family.

Sheriff Garcia is asking the public for help either by providing information on this crime or by the person (witness) coming forward with their information.

UPDATE**

Sheriff Garcia is announcing the arrest of Kourtney Thompson, age 26, wanted in the murder of Larry Jones. The suspect, at approximately 5:00 p.m. Thursday, turned herself in near the Kempton Police Department with the assistance of the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office along with a Detective from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. She will be transported to the Grant County Jail on the previously announced charges and held without bond. No further information will be given at this time.
