WARSAW,Indiana – A Ft. Wayne man is facing a slew of drug charges after a routine traffic stop by Warsaw Police on June 25th. Warsaw Police Officer Phillip Hawks says he followed a green four-door Pontiac driven by 37-year-old John Thomas Young of Ft. Wayne as it drove left of center and then turned into a bowling alley without using a turn signal. As the car stopped in a parking lot, a male passenger jumped out of the car and ran into a bowling alley while driver, identified as Young, stayed in the car.

A police K9 conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of contraband. A search revealed three $20 bills and a glass smoking device that contained a white residue which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Young allegedly failed all sobriety tests, was taken to Kosciusko County Hospital to give a blood sample and then booked into the Kosciusko County Jail.

A search of the bowling alley did not find the suspect who exited Young’s car but police did find a plastic bag on the floor which contained a a white, crystalline substance police say was packaged to sell. A field-test on the substance in the bag came up positive for meth and weighed 11.2 grams.

Young is now facing level 2 felony of aiding, inducing or causing dealing in methamphetamine; possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances as a level 3 felony and possession of paraphernalia. He is being held on a $25,250 cash bond.
