ANDREWS, IN- Sharpen your fall mushroom hunting skills Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Salamonie Lake’s interpretive / nature center.
Returning workshop presenter Indiana Master Naturalist Jake Wyatt will share his knowledge of native fall fungi identification beginning with an indoor presentation before heading out to unpaved trails.
This will be a hands-on introduction of native mushrooms. Participants will learn differences of several look-alike varieties. No mushrooms will be consumed during this event. The program is designed for older teens and adults.
“It is important to educate yourself and use caution before consuming any wild mushroom,” said Teresa Rody, interpretive naturalist at Upper Wabash Interpretive Services. “There are look-alikes that can be extremely dangerous if ingested.”
Workshop cost is $10 per person, cash or check made out to Friends of Upper Wabash Interpretive Services (Friends of UWIS), payable day of workshop.

Participants should dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, bring a reusable water bottle and personal snacks.
