Doris J. Cornett

Doris J. Cornett, 79, Amboy, passed away at her home at 5:23 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018. She was born in Ashland, Kentucky, on September 6, 1938, to the late Ernest and Julia (Blake) Dailey. On August 7, 1953, Doris married Bennie Cornett, and they shared 50 years together before he preceded her in death on October 15, 2003.

Doris retired from Gen Corp., where she was a production worker. She was a very straight-forward kind of person and very set in her ways, and she would tell you what she thought without any hesitation. Doris loved spending time with her family, and she also loved animals. She took in many stray cats and ended up keeping several of them. Doris also enjoyed working in her yard, and she collected bells and cabbage patch dolls.

She is survived by a large and loving family which includes seven children, Mae Louise Castonguay, Huntington, Judy (Ron) McKinley, Marion, Robert (Nicci) Cornett, Amboy, Pam (Greg Marley) Pavey, Marion, Bennie (Tammi) Cornett, Marion, Cathy Jarvis, North Manchester, and Willie (Kim) Cornett, Marion; brother, James Dailey, Seattle, Washington; and 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Richard Jarvis; sister-in-law, Shirley Dailey; sisters, Dorothy Kimbleton and Mary Dailey; brother, Louis Dailey; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Pavey and Twilla Dill.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Pastor Lois Helm will be officiating with burial following at Gardens of Memory.
