Cynthia Louise Fortney, 74, Marion, died at 9:23 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2016, at Marion General Hospital, Marion. She was born in Marion, IN, to the late Forest “Rip” and Betty (Oler) Huffman. She married James Fortney on December 22, 1963, and he survives.
Cynthia was a 1959 graduate of Marion High School and worked as a Supervisor in the cafeteria of Marion High School for 23 years. She enjoyed cooking, and especially enjoyed Saturday morning breakfast with her family. Family was important to her. She loved traveling with her sister, Claudia, playing games with her grandkids, and attending tea parties with her grandchildren at the Hostess House. Family gatherings were always filled with laughter, and Cynthia loved to have over as many people as possible.
Cynthia was always very social. She was a member of the Euchre club for many years and would pull out cards and play while having casual conversation. She enjoyed taking water aerobics classes at the YMCA. Cynthia will be remembered for her great sense of humor and loving character.
She is survived by her husband, James; children, Tom (Kate) Fortney, Noblesville, Sean Fortney, Noblesville, and Becca Fortney, Huntington; grandchildren, Sarah Fortney, Rachel Fortney, Matthew Slaven, and Carissa Fortney; and siblings, Claude (Debbie) Huffman, NC, Chris (Jane) Huffman, Jonesboro, Charles (Norry) Huffman, CA, Curt (Beth) Huffman, WI, Claudia (George) Moorman, FL, and Christine (Tim) Russ, Marion.
In addition to her parents, Cynthia was preceded in death by her father- and mother-in-law, Ralph (Fern) Fortney.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
