Construction Work Incident ends in Fatality

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. – On Tuesday, May 26, 2020 a construction worker died after scaffolding gave way at the SR105 Bridge that crosses Salamonie Lake in southwest Huntington County. Emergency personnel arrived and were directed to the water where the man was spotted entering.

Indiana Department of Natural Resource Law Enforcement Division as well as their dive team arrived and recovered the decedent in about 39′ of water. He was wearing the required harness, but was not tethered at the time of the incident. The cause of death is pending an autopsy that’s scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2020. The investigation into the incident continues with the Indiana Department of Natural Resource Law Enforcement Division, Indiana OHSA and Huntington County Coroner’s Office.
