Car vs Train accident at Miami Crossing in Wabash

WABASH, IN- On February 14, 2023, at approximately 6:41PM Wabash City Police responded to a car versus train crash at the Miami Railroad crossing.  Wabash Police reported a Norfolk Southern train was Eastbound.  Wabash Police stated evidence showed that Evan J. Carter, 34, Wabash was the driver of the vehicle. It was reported Carter drove around the crossing arms in attempt to beat the train.   The train was approximately 150 cars in length.  Due to the length of the train, several crossings were closed in the city for almost two hours.  The investigation is still ongoing.  Assisting Wabash Police at the scene was Wabash City Fire Department and Norfolk Southern Railroad Police.
