WARSAW – ((InkFreeNews) The Bob Evans restaurant in Warsaw closed briefly Wednesday morning, March 11, after a video surfaced on Facebook showing a woman using a mop to clean a tabletop.

The business, located at 3100 E Center St., was closed as of 9:30 a.m. while customers were still inside eating. It appeared customers inside were allowed to finish their meals before leaving.

A sign on the door of the restaurant was posted briefly while the store closed for a short period Wednesday morning. InkFreeNews photo by Dan Spalding.

A sign on the front door said the restaurant was closed for maintenance reasons, and the front door was locked.

The video was posted at 9:29 p.m. Tuesday by a Warsaw area woman. It had more than 2,000 views and 600 comments as of Wednesday morning.

By 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, the video had been taken down.

The five-second video shows a young woman dressed in black using a mop to clean a table. The woman appears to smile and waits for the video to begin before mopping a single tabletop.

Kosciusko County Health Department confirmed the temporary closing.

Health Department Administrator Bob Weaver said, “We closed them down so they could do some sanitizing.”

Weaver said the health department was notified by Warsaw Police about an incident that occurred at the restaurant Tuesday night.

“We got a report of them cleaning tables with a mop. We also found out they had posted this on Facebook,” Weaver said. “Once we verified that, we went over and closed Bob Evans until they sanitized every table and seat in the restaurant. We stayed there while they did that.”

Warsaw Police told InkFreeNews the issue was actively being investigated.

“It’s my understanding that Bob Evans is taking all the appropriate action,” said Brad Kellar, public information officer for the police department.

A woman at Bob Evans who took a phone call declined to comment. She provided a phone number to the company’s corporate office, but that number for the “marketing hotline” was “unavailable.”
