If I could restart my past, I would go back to before she died. I really wanted to say goodbye, but never got to. My brother, Christopher, made a time machine with care just for me.

“Storm? Are you sure you want to do this?”  whispered Christopher. I nodded, climbing into the machine. I saw my brother’s face out of the window after he pushed the button, then a blur of blue. CRASH! I got thrown across the time machine. I got up to find myself in the hospital, tossed back to the day that my friend, Flame, died two weeks earlier. I saw her face looking at me, smiling. I got into the room and held her hand.

“Goodbye.” I whispered in her ear. Flame nodded, then she closed her eyes.  I got back into the machine and went back to my brother. Christopher smiled at me when I came back.

“I said goodbye.” I muttered. He hugged me as I saw a white glow in the room, Flame came back to say goodbye to me. I waved to her and she disappeared as a angel.

“Goodbye.” sang the wind into my ear.

Shylah is the daughter of Greg and Erin Miller.
