Woman Arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs to inmate at Miami Correctional Facility

BUNKER HILL, IN – Corrections officers say a 27-year-old Indianapolis woman attempted to smuggle in heroin and meth to an inmate on Sunday at Miami Correctional Facility. Investigators at the prison received information that Amber Scott would attempt to traffic narcotics to an offender during visitation, according to a release. More information was discovered during a phone call between Scott and an inmate. Investigators also learned she had an active arrest warrant out of Howard County. Scott was taken into custody by correctional police on the warrant when she came to visit on Sunday. Investigators say she admitted to having illegal contraband on her person. Police then recovered a small amount of meth, heroin and Xanax pills. Police say Scott also admitted to staff that she had narcotics and drug paraphernalia in her vehicle. With the help of a K-9, police also found syringes, heroin and meth in her vehicle, according to the release. Scott was arrested on felony charges of conspiracy to traffic with an inmate, possession of a narcotic, possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor charge of operating without a license.
